Help Evis Rebuild After A House Fire
Donation protected
Hi friends and family!
As some of you may know, our friend Evis awoke to her new home on fire in the early morning of August 22, 2023. Fire and police personnel woke her up by banging on her doors and windows yelling “is anyone else here?!??”. Thankfully she was able to grab her kitty Doja while the fire fighters extinguished the flames.
She had just purchased this, her first home, in March 2023. She has spent the last 4 months fixing it up and making it her own with decorations and personality.
Evis spent the first hours in logistics mode and most of the day on the phone making arrangements for her near future. With the help of her mother, she was able to pack up some belongings, but everything smells like smoke and will either need to be thrown out or dry cleaned.
She spent her first couple of nights in a hotel without much of an appetite because of the stress and adrenaline. Her kitty Doja was by her side, confused, but also wondering if they were on vacation.
During the second day, she watched as professional cleaners tossed her furniture, pillows, curtains and other linens on the curb. She will have her clothes dry cleaned before they can be worn again. She also lost all the food in her fridge.
She was able to save photographs and mementos of her family and said “it’s okay. everything can be replaced. I salvaged all the pictures so I'm happy”.
As many of you know and have experienced first hand, Evis is a remarkable person to have in your corner. She is a loving and supportive daughter and granddaughter to her Mom and Grandma. She has been there for many family members and holds a special place in her heart for her nieces. At work, she is a keystone to the youth department and has helped coworkers time and time again. Her colleagues know she is the ultimate team player and listens to opinions with respect and professionalism in order to find a solution to any problem that arises.
If you are reading this, chances are you have been a beneficiary to Evis’ kindness and fortitude. Now is your turn to help her get back on her feet!
Please consider donating to Evis at this time of uncertainty.
There is no doubt that without anyone’s help, she would push through and survive stronger than before. But, with a community in her corner, her immediate struggles will be more manageable.
Let’s show her that she is not alone!
Thank you for whatever you can do
