Help Evelyn recover from a rare life-threatening infection

1/18/2025 update

Evelyn has been at home recovering on 24 hour IV antibiotics administered by a continuous PICC line. This will go on for at least four more weeks. She had one ER visits this week from concerns of infection but seems to be okay now. Next week she will have a follow up MRI and Lumbar spine tap to see if the infection is clearing. She’s getting some of her energy back and is getting more awake time so these are all good signs.

Hello,

This GoFundMe has been created for my niece, Evelyn who has recently been discharged from the hospital. She was admitted to Children’s hospital on NYE and stayed for 10 days undergoing treatment for a very rare and life-threatening Group A Strep Meningitis infection. She has been released to be at home with her family and is in need of constant hospital at-home-care for several more weeks as she will need close monitoring and IV antibiotics for her condition. Evelyn will need to see several specialists during her recovery for audiology, physical therapy, and infectious disease.

Evelyn is an amazing little girl with the sweetest personality and is only 6 years old. She loves Gabby’s Dollhouse, playing with her friends, and going to school. She will be missing out on her favorite activities for a while as we are not yet sure what her recovery will look like and she is still very weak.

Her mother will be unable to return to work until Evelyn is fully recovered and ready to return to school. She will also tutor Evelyn at home with educational content from her school once she gains some of her energy back enough to learn again.

This unexpected illness has put a financial strain on Evelyn’s parents as they have had to miss work to be at the hospital to care for her as well as her brother River.
