A Life-Changing Opportunity

Evelyn Diaz is an incredible woman with a heart full of love and service. She works for the Girl Scouts of San Diego and leads a Girl Scout Brownie troop, embodying the Girl Scout Promise in everything she does. She’s a devoted wife, sister, and mother to two special needs children, as well as a young man she calls her ‘bonus son.’ Evelyn is a true example of kindness, positivity, and generosity, always going above and beyond to make the world a better place.

A Devastating Diagnosis

Evelyn has been battling diabetes for over 25 years, and in recent years, her condition has led to kidney failure. For the past year, she has been undergoing daily home dialysis, a grueling and exhausting process that has taken a significant toll on her physically, mentally, and emotionally. The treatment leaves her drained of energy, making it impossible for her to continue working with the Girl Scouts or even maintain her usual daily activities. Her loving husband, Ivan, has been by her side as her primary caretaker, ensuring she gets the support she needs every day.

A New Hope

There is hope on the horizon! Evelyn has been matched with a kidney donor, and her transplant is scheduled for early March. This life-saving surgery offers her a second chance at a full and active life. However, the road to recovery will be long, with at least three months of healing and ongoing medical care.

Why We Need Your Help

While insurance covers much of the transplant surgery itself, there are many additional expenses that Evelyn’s family simply cannot manage on their own. We are raising funds to cover:

Travel, lodging, and food expenses for Evelyn’s donor and the donor’s caretaker.

Lost wages for Evelyn and her husband while she recovers.

Post-surgery medications, including anti-rejection drugs.

Follow-up medical appointments and ongoing care.
