Help Evelyn & Cruz Through This Horrific Incident

Hi, my name is Lorena and I'm fundraising for my best friend, Evelyn and her son, Cruz. On Monday, February 7, Evelyn and Cruz were viciously attacked at their home by their family dog. It was a routine day with Cruz outside playing with his dog. While outside playing, Cruz tripped and fell and the dog attacked him out of nowhere. Evelyn saw this occur and ran out to try to take the dog off Cruz. After several attempts, Evelyn was able to get Cruz's arm released from the dog's mouth. Cruz ran inside to call 911. He also decided to run to the neighbor's house to get help. In the meantime, the dog was still attacking Evelyn in their backyard. When the sheriff's department arrived they were able to secure the dog and had to apply a tourniquet on her arm to try to stop the bleeding. Thanks to Cruz's quick thinking and bravery, his mom survived the attack but not without severe and extensive injuries.

Cruz suffered a broken arm along with several lacerations and punctures that needed extensive sutures. He spent several days in the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He is now home and recovering from this ordeal. He will need another surgery along with physical and trauma therapy.

Evelyn got the worst of the attack. She is still in the hospital and will be there another 3 - 4 weeks. She has had 3 surgeries and there will be more down the road. Everything is being done in an effort to save her arm.

Please send your prayers and thoughts for healing to Evelyn, Cruz and her family while they recover mentally and physically. This is a circumstance that no one can ever prepare for. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would be used to help pay the insurmountable medical debt they are now faced with.

She is the MOST giving, gracious and thoughtful person that I have ever met. She is always doing for others; helping out where and when she can. She always has. She loves her family fiercely and is the most devout and dedicated friend you will ever have. There is no one else like her. She is a one-of-a-kind soul.
