Help Eve Get Treatment For F.I.P
Donation protected
This is Eve, she is an 18 week old, happy, loving, and talkative kitten. We adopted her when she was just 8 weeks old and since then, she has had a bit of a rough start. Eve had an upper respiratory infection which caused her to have major eye drainage, not eat, not play, and just slept all of the time, but luckily she got treatment and got better! But, quickly after, she started having eye trouble, either both or at least one of her eyes were enflamed, cloudy, and had blood spots. We've tried eye drops and eye ointment that seem to work at first but the problems keep coming back. Last Saturday Eve started to walk funny on her two back legs, she wobbles from side to side and falls down a lot.
This week we got the news that she has FIP, or Feline Infectious Peritonitis, this has affected her eyes and her walking ability. FIP has been known to be uncurable, and thats what our vet told us as well, they said Eve would start to rapidly decline, she would be unable to walk and eat soon, so we would have to put her down. After doing a lot of research I found something that looks like solution. A doctor from UC Davis discovered a cure, GS-441524, which helps to stop the replication of the virus. This is a new treatment that has been super successful in all of the trials, but is not yet available in the US because it is still awaiting approval by the FDA. Despite not being fully approved by the FDA yet, there are multiple different groups working to get this cure out to the public to save these cats that would otherwise have a death sentence.
Eve's treatment will take about 12 weeks to complete and the treatment is pretty costly. Dimitri and I (Eve's owners) are both college students who take classes full time and try to work on the side but unfortunately we are unable to cover the cost of her treatment on our own.
Anything helps! Thank you so much!
