Eve is the most giving and is always first in line to serve others. The most giving people rarely ask for help themselves, but Eve is the most deserving of all the help and love in the world. I’m asking for donations on behalf of the Nawahine family to help ease the financial strain as these cancer clinics are very expensive and both parents will be away from their children while Eve is undergoing treatment. If you are able to donate monetarily we would be tremendously grateful, if you are not we are still grateful for you and ask for your prayers. Please take a few minutes to read her story:
A few years ago Eve felt a lump in her side and was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was one of the more aggressive types of breast cancer. Sadly, two of Eve’s sisters, Valerie and Elizabeth, have passed away from this same cancer. Eve was able to beat it and go into remission for about two years.
Last October, she had a checkup scan done that showed she had something in her liver and that she needed to do further testing. She was never followed up with, and thought all was well. In November, she started to have trouble breathing whenever working out. By December it was so hard for her to breathe that she had to sleep sitting up in bed at night. She finally went to the ER where they discovered her left lung was completely filled with fluid. Her doctors thought this was odd because she showed no signs of sickness or pneumonia. They drained 3 liters of fluid from one lung!
In January she was diagnosed. The breast cancer had come back and was now all over her lungs and liver. She was immediately put on a treatment (hormone blockers and an inhibitor) that is RARELY unsuccessful for her type of cancer. She also had to have her lung drained 5 more times. Unfortunately, Eve turned out to be a rare case and the treatment did not work for her. After only a few months her cancer has already progressed to stage 4.
Eve and her husband, Hank, both work full time. They have 9 children, 3 of which are in college, and 3 younger children still at home, along with four grandkiddos. There are no treatments left that she is able to take. Her cancer does not qualify for chemo or radiation or any other treatments. After much research and prayer, her family has decided that her best option to fight this would be at a cancer clinic down in Mexico that has accepted her as a patient and has previously produced amazing results. We are hopeful that this place will help heal her. Eve’s cancer is fast growing and aggressive. Eve has always been like a second mother to me since the day I met her over 12 years ago and welcomes everyone into her home at any time with a hug and the most delicious meal. She is the glue of her family, and she is an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Everyone she meets loves her. She is strong willed, tough and has a lot of years left to live and I know she can beat this.
