Hello there,
My name is Eva and I am raising funds for my mom who is 81 years old (turning 82 on the 15th of July) and is in a hospital since April 22nd. She has been living independently until then without any problems but she fell and was taken to a nearby hospital. Last photo is of her before the fall.
Healthcare in Eastern Europe is “free” - for 21 days anyway - but CARE is a loose term. After paying into the retirement fund all her life she only gets 21 days free care.
She would have been back on her feet within a week or two but the lack of feeding and fluid intake and ignorance from her caretakers actually is hurting her. Her wrists are tied to the frame of the bed because the nurses don’t want to deal with her wanting to get up. She has been in bed for all the days she has been in the hospital. They do not give her fluids and even when she gets fed all meals have low or no nutritional value. A cup of regular yogurt or a piece of bread with jelly. I thankfully have a relative who can visit her every day and feed her but once a day is not enough to nourish her back to “normalcy”. Visiting hours are only 4-6 daily in the afternoon.
Until now we were able to manage her expenses but now unfortunately we need help to take her out of there and to provide 24/7 home care.
She is still in good spirit and very strong willed and wants to live! It would take most likely 6 month or so to get her back to herself but we know that it is absolutely doable with the right care!
I am not in the position to help her financially beyond this point and we cannot get her into a nursing home in this condition.
My goal with raising money is to get her out of the hospital and move her back into her rental with 24/7 aid - cost is between $2000-4000/month) until she gets back on her feet. Then we can put in an application to a nursing home. That could cost around 150K depending on the facility.
This platform is my last resort to get help and I am hoping to succeed!
My mom’s and my dream is to get back on her feet and to be independent again even if it means living at a well run facility.
Thank you all for your kindness!
