Help Eva’s Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
I, Jehnnali Perez, am saddened to share the news of my grandmother. Many of you know Ivette “Eva” Carrero as the glue to our family. Day in and day out, she dedicated her life to her family and to helping raise her grandchildren, myself included. Eva was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share my grandmother’s story.
On the night of December 16th, Eva was sent to Montefiore Einstein Emergency Room due to a fall injury, and tested positive for COVID-19. She was treated with supplemental oxygen support, and was on the road to a fast recovery to continue from home. Things took a turn for the worse on the morning of December 27th, in which she was found unresponsive to an aspiration. Being that her oxygen levels fell to 70, she was given various forms of oxygen support with no relief; ultimately, she was intubated to keep her oxygen levels afloat. The last several days of her being intubated have been some of the most emotionally taxing on her loved ones, who have been supporting her (and fortunate enough to visit her) day in and day out. Her blood pressure has been unable to be sustained at normal levels, falling far below the requirement necessary to sustain life. In addition to her low blood pressure, her body has fallen into septic shock, and her major organs have slowly began to shut down. This course is expected to continue until her final moments. With the holidays still in season, it goes without saying that this has been the most emotionally painful way to close off the year, and our hearts are breaking.
It is with heavy hearts that we ask if any family or friends can help us give our beloved mother and grandmother a proper funeral. Any amount will truly ease the financial strain of this extremely unprecedented event. We thank you in advance for helping our family, and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
With love,
