Help Evangeline Javes and her family battle cancer and grief
Donation protected
The Javes family has had a tumultuous couple of years and need your help.
In April 2024, Evangeline had just turned 12 when she was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). A gene mutation in the cancer (the Philadelphia gene) makes it much tougher to treat. This devastating news meant that she missed out on the end of primary school, gave up on passions like dance and football for now, and started high school from a hospital bed.
If that wasn't bad enough, in November 2024, Step Mum Andrea lost her battle with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. She had been through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and clinical trials. In 2024, Evangeline and Andrea were doing chemotherapy together – they both lost their hair together, and shared a lot of love and chats and tears, while Thomas ran between the Women’s and Children Hospital.
Evie is as brave as they come and is currently undergoing 2 years of intense chemotherapy.
Dad Thomas is now focused solely on helping Evie to recover, and caring for the siblings he has at home- a 7 year old boy and 11 year old girl. Thomas loves his job as a dad, but the current demands don’t leave him any time to get paid work.
While we work through Evangeline’s treatment, fundraising will help the family:
a. cover rent and food
b. access beneficial complimentary medicines and treatments that are not covered by medicare;
c. buy books and learning aids for schooling
d. pay for Evangeline’s younger siblings to access babysitting, counselling and activities
We estimate that that $50k will help the family to stay afloat for the next year of treatment; hopefully taking the pressure off so that Tom can concentrate on helping Evangeline beating her Cancer without the heavy burden of financial stress.
We would like to thank you in advance for any donations, no matter how small. We appreciate your kindness and generosity and love.
