Help Evan Get Mental Health Treatment

Donation protected
Evan Knapp – a wonderful man suffering deeply from Treatment Resistant Major Depression Disorder – was very hesitant to let me do this. Knowing the dire straits my dear friend was in, however, I finally changed his mind. Evan Knapp truly needs our help, especially as his condition gets more and more frightening, self-harm a regular concern of his particular mental disease. A treatment has emerged which could ease his dangerous depression symptoms and save him from the self-endangering places his depression brings him. Getting it, though, is much more expensive than a person unable to work due to his condition, can afford. Helping him afford this desperately needed treatment is the immediate priority.

Please help my friend.

Diagnosed – after years of incorrect diagnoses and dangerously wrong prescriptions – with Treatment Resistant Major Depression Disorder, Evan’s life has been a rollercoaster of pain and difficulty. A brilliant performer and creative, he’s been unable to offer the world all he is capable of because of the crushing depression ruling his mind – even leading to several actual suicide attempts. Seemingly a miracle, Evan was lucky enough to receive experimental ketamine treatments – lauded for years as one of the few treatments able to help alleviate the suffering of untreatable depression – and for a while they’ve kept the worst of his depression at least in check.

But 3 years is a long time and eventually the body adapts to medication.
In the last year, Evan’s dangerous symptoms have begun to return in full force. Crushing, hopeless depression and crippling anxiety have again become part of his regular experience. His last panic attack – the one which prompted me to finally do this – left him unable to move or speak for a full 20 minutes in a public park. Only his beloved companion dog, Buddy, was able to eventually bring him out of it, staying right beside him the entire time.

To add to this, the side effects of the ketamine treatment (Spravato), have also become more pronounced, making the depression and anxiety even more potent – constant tinnitus, intense headaches, long-lasting loss of appetite and lingering sedation. Already frustratingly unable to work, he now finds himself regularly unable to function on the most basic levels. This is a very bad mental space for someone with untreatable depression. Suicide ideation has again begun to creep forth, horrifying Evan, who truly wants to live.

Hope, however, may be on the horizon. A new treatment – Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) – offers to precisely treat Evan’s illness and symptoms. Targeting the pre-frontal cortex to regulate mood, TMS stimulates that area to “wake it up,” by exciting the brain cells/dendrites. TMS is finally becoming more available and is working in most people.

The suicide attempts of Evan’s past have shattered my heart. He is a dear friend and one of the best people I’ve ever known. Knowing what he feels and fights in order just to survive every day, kills me. Please help me get him the money he needs to afford the treatment which could allow him, finally, the safety and happiness he so deserves.

Thank you so much for your generosity.
