Help Evan Finally Get Top Surgery!

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Evan is a 24-year-old transgender man from NH who is working towards taking the next step in his transition. He began hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in September 2019, and now that he has been on testosterone for over a year, he is feeling even more ready to get top surgery.

Evan has been struggling with gender dysphoria as long as he can remember. He started binding his chest 7 years ago to help alleviate some of this dysphoria, but binding daily takes a significant physical toll on his body. Evan already experienced back pain before he began binding — in part because of his chest size, and in part because of his chronic pain.

In addition to his chronic pain, Evan has a congenital heart condition — this means that he is extremely immunocompromised and has been limited in how much he has been able to work since the COVID-19 pandemic began. He and I have both been working on trying to build our savings so that he can get this surgery, but we have been struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic.

Gender dysphoria has had an immense negative impact on Evan's mental health. Getting top surgery (double incision mastectomy) is not only going to alleviate a significant amount of Evan's physical pain, but it will also benefit his mental well-being and overall quality of life. Unfortunately, his insurance does not cover the cost of this surgery — that's where you come in!

The cost of receiving a double incision mastectomy from the surgeon that Evan has chosen is about $9,500 (which should include consult, procedure, and hospital/anesthesiologist fees). The total goal amount is $11,000 with the hope that the extra money can help cover our bills (rent, utilities, etc) during his recovery time, when he will be unable to work.

I am organizing this fundraiser on Evan's behalf because he really deserves this, and I unfortunately cannot do this for him on my own (and he is not always the best at asking for help).  Please consider donating to help Evan continue to become happier and healthier! Even if you cannot afford to donate, sharing this fundraiser would be a great help. Thank you all!
