Hi there, I am Evan. As some of you know, I was laid off from my job in July of 2025 and have been trying to find a new job since then. Although the job market has been terrible for folks in my lane (copywriting, editing, community management, and trust & safety), I have submitted thousands of applications over the past several months.

The good news is that I was recently offered a great job and I've accepted the job offer. I'll be starting at Medium on April 27, 2026 as part of their Product Communications team working in author verification. The job pays well and I'm excited to start.

However, I'm having issues bridging the gap between when my Unemployment recently ended and when I expect to first be paid (on May 15).

Currently, I'm very behind. My rent is $937 due the first of each month and I haven't been able to put together the money I need to pay it. Additionally, May's rent is coming and I won't start until April 27, so it's unlikely I'll have that amount either.

The rub: I'm asking for your help, if you can afford it. My goal is to raise $1880, or the cost of two months of my rent so that I can pay both what I owe and pay May's rent.

It's worth noting that my room mates are relying on me, so you're not just helping me. We're all at risk of losing our housing, so as embarrassing as it is to ask for this kind of help from my friends and community, I owe it to them to make sure we don't lose the home we've lived in together for over seven years.
