My name is Evan Bowman and I am a remote worker for Oregon Health & Science University, a union leader in AFSCME Local 328, and a super-proud single father of four teenagers.

On Saturday, August 31, 2024, after having drinks with my union sister and friends, I returned to find my apartment building on fire. Thankfully, my apartment was not engulfed and I only sustained minimal smoke and water damage. That was the good news; the bad news is that my home and office is uninhabitable for the next 6-8 months and I must suddenly move during the first week of school.

I am a poor and proud man; I am doing my best to model appropriate vulnerability and seeking help from my community. All funds will go to first-month rent, deposit, and food.
