About Me
Hi! My name is Evalyn Trujillo, and I am a 19-year-old Marine Biology major with a minor in Diving at Texas A&M University at Galveston. I have been accepted into a competitive and immersive study abroad program in Australia and New Zealand, a dream opportunity that fits perfectly with my passion for marine science and environmental sustainability.
I am raising $10,570 to make this experience possible. This will be my first time traveling outside of the United States, and I could not be more excited or more determined to make the most of it.
About the Program
From December 26, 2025, to January 11, 2026, I will travel across Australia and New Zealand to study sustainable development through field research, cultural experiences, coursework, and expert presentations. This program focuses on the connection between people and the environment.
Program Highlights:
- Studying coral reef systems in the Great Barrier Reef
- Learning about Māori environmental traditions
- Exploring glaciers and fjords in New Zealand
- Visiting the Australia Zoo for conservation insight
- Developing a global understanding of nature and society
This opportunity is not just academic. It is personal and deeply meaningful. I have always been fascinated by the ocean and dedicated to learning how to protect it. This program will help me grow into a more knowledgeable and globally minded marine scientist.
Why I Need Your Help
The total estimated cost of the program is $10,570, which covers:
Expense / Amount
Program Fee / $6,200
Travel, meals, & documents / $3,870 and up
Deposit & miscellaneous costs / $500 and up
I am working, saving, and applying for scholarships to help fund this opportunity. However, I still need support. Your donation will help cover:
- Educational fieldwork and excursions
- Travel to and within Australia and New Zealand
- Lodging, insurance, and meals
- Visa and travel supplies
How You Can Help
Any amount you are able to give will bring me one step closer to this life changing experience. If you cannot donate, you can still help by sharing my story with friends, family, or anyone who supports education and science.
This adventure also happens right around my birthday. In a way, it already feels like the greatest gift I could ever receive. Thank you so much for helping make this dream a reality.
With deep gratitude,
Evalyn Trujillo
