Help Evaggelos & Eleni Start Over After Trauma & Loss
My beloved parents, Evaggelos (85) and Eleni (78), have been on a difficult journey since 2018, when we lost our family home in Greece due to financial hardship.
They moved to a small, quiet apartment in Anavyssos, trying to rebuild their life. Living on limited pensions and with occasional help from me and a few family members, they’ve done their best to stay strong.
Sadly, four months ago, their home was broken into. The burglars took everything—jewelry, shoes, bags, even clothes. It was a deeply traumatizing experience, especially at their age.
As if that wasn’t enough, on Saturday, April 5th, they were violently robbed again—this time just outside their home. Two men opened their car doors, pulled hoodies over their heads, and stole the few belongings and money they had left.
Now, they live in constant fear. They can’t sleep, and both are suffering from PTSD. We are doing everything we can to move them to a safer home, but we need help.
We are trying to raise $5,500 to cover:
* Three months’ rent upfront ($850/month)
* Moving expenses ($2,000)
It’s incredibly hard to be far away while your loved ones are suffering. I feel helpless and heartbroken. A kind family friend suggested starting this GoFundMe, and I’m holding onto hope.
If you can, please pray for my family—and if you're able, contribute to help give my parents a safer, more peaceful place to live. They’ve spent their lives giving to others and to the community. Now they need a little help in return.
With gratitude,
Nikoleta & the Maidou Family
