My name is Hussein Abu Khreis. I am a 27-year-old Palestinian journalist from Gaza, and I am humbly asking for your help support my family and I.

Since the beginning of this brutal war, I have risked my life countless times to report the truth from the ground—sharing the horrors, destruction, and human suffering that the world must see. Like many Palestinian journalists, I went into the field with courage and commitment, determined to uphold my duty to tell our people’s story to the world. I did this knowing the risks, witnessing death, injury, and destruction on a daily basis, and narrowly escaping Israeli airstrikes more than once.

But the war has become unbearable. The siege has cut us off from food, electricity, clean water, and medicine. We are starving. We are isolated. Our homes have become piles of rubble, and our neighborhoods have turned into graveyards. And with the increase in journalists and their families being targeted by the occupation — I must do everything I can to protect my family and I. I have done my duty as a journalist. I have stayed for as long as I could, sacrificing everything to document the truth. But now, it’s time to save my family and preserve the lives we still have.

I am trying to help support nine people—myself and eight members of my family. (My mother, father, 3 younger sisters and 3 younger brothers. I am the oldest of my siblings.)

We will have to rebuild our lives from scratch.

Our total fundraising goal is $50,000 so we can prepare for our future — but any funds raised will also help us survive the worsening conditions in Gaza, where food and basic necessities have become increasingly unaffordable.

This war has robbed us of everything—but I still have hope that people around the world who believe in justice, in human life, and in truth, will come together and help us survive.
