My name is Mykhailo Svyrydovych, and I live in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada.

I am reaching out for help for my father, who is currently in northern Ukraine, about 50 km from the Russian border, in the Chernihiv region — an area that continues to suffer from constant attacks.

My father’s (Oleksandr Svyrydovych) health is rapidly declining. He is suffering from progressive dementia and urgently needs medical evaluation, treatment, and constant personal care. Unfortunately, he is currently alone. Some people are helping him temporarily, but this support will not last long.

In Ukraine, the situation is extremely difficult. My father’s state pension is about $70 per month, while the cost of food, clothing, and basic necessities is nearly the same as in Canada. There is almost no government support available for his condition.

Our goal is to:

Obtain official medical documents confirming his disability

Allow me to travel to Ukraine and safely evacuate him to Europe

Place him in a medical or care facility where his condition can be stabilized

Provide ongoing support for his medical and basic living needs

Our family came to Canada after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. We are living on one income as my wife looks after the two children. Our financial resources are extremely limited, and every dollar goes toward providing the basics.

As much as I want to help my father on my own, I simply do not have the financial ability to cover medical care, evacuation, travel, and long-term support by myself.

The funds raised will be used for:

Medical evaluations and documentation

Travel expenses to reach my father

Transportation from Ukraine to Europe

Initial placement in a medical or care facility

Essential living and medical expenses
