Urgent Assistance Needed: Help Evacuate My Mother-in-law for Essential Medical Treatment

My name is Asil and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency. My mother-in-law Maisara, who has bravely battled diabetes for four decades and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2014, urgently needs your help. She has been regularly traveling to Egypt to receive essential treatment for her Parkinson's, as the medications she requires are not available in Gaza, where she resides.

The recent escalation of conflict and resulting blockade in Gaza has made it nearly impossible for her to access her crucial medications for the past five months. As a result, her mobility has significantly deteriorated, leaving her reliant on a wheelchair for basic movement. Moreover, she is facing additional complications from the Epiretinal membrane, for which she urgently requires surgery to prevent the risk of retinal detachment and potential loss of vision. Additionally, on her last medical trip to Egypt between January to April 2023, her doctor and she planned to undergo brain surgery for her Parkinson's in Egypt in 2024. This surgery was seen as a crucial step in managing her condition and improving her quality of life.

However, amidst the recent bombardment in Khan Younis, where they resided, they tragically lost their home and their source of income, leaving them in a dire situation. The loss of their home and income has compounded their challenges, making it even more difficult for my mother-in-law to undergo the necessary surgery. The financial strain has become a significant barrier to accessing the medical care she urgently needs. Your support in this critical time could make all the difference in ensuring that she receives the treatment essential for her well-being.

Tragically, due to the ongoing crisis, it has become increasingly unsafe and challenging for my husband Anis, who serves as her primary caregiver, and my mother-in-law to access the medical care she desperately needs. We are deeply concerned about the potential consequences of further delays in her treatment.
