Help support Hamood’s family
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Mohammed. I am setting up a GoFundMe to help my friend Hamood evacuate his family from Gaza. Hamood is 22 and originally from Beit Lahia, Jabalia, in North Gaza.
This is Hamood and his family’s story (written by Hamood)- I came to the United Kingdom 3 years ago as an asylum seeker which means i am financially incapable of providing for my loved ones in Palestine. We are setting up this fundraiser after months of contemplation and hesitation, with despair, now believing that it’s the only option left for survival and the safety of my family in Gaza.

Before this genocide, my father’s occupation was in agriculture and he was a garden designer, making homes beautiful for others but now his own home has been destroyed by the occupation. We had a spacious and welcoming home with a big garden, where we would spend a lot of family quality time together. This is no longer the case and now all we have are memories.

With the ongoing genocide in Gaza, my family have been forcefully displaced 5 times since October 2023. First, they had to evacuate to a school in Jabalia then Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, Rafah and now they are back in Khan Younis, struggling for food, water and other basic necessities. I want to see my family again and I need your financial support to get my family out of Gaza. I have already lost 80 members of my family and friends and I do not want to lose any more loved ones.
On Sunday 26th May 2024 when the tent massacre happened in Rafah, this is the same camp where my family were displaced. They were fortunate to survive another attack by the Israeli occupation. I’m happy they are still alive but also very scared. The healthcare system has collapsed, there is no medication and not enough humanitarian aid is being allowed to enter the Gaza strip. The little aid that is getting through is insufficient as it only covers a small fraction of displaced people. While I write these words, the war jets and military drones are hovering relentlessly above my family in Khan Younis with no break from its buzzing sound and violent attacks.

The displacement is exhausting and traumatising for me whilst I’m safe here and my family in Khan Younis who are not safe. They are all living in one tent as it’s the only option and they don’t have any of their belongings with them to deal with the harsh weather conditions, especially during the winter monthswhen it starts to get cold, dark and always having to think about water leakage if it rains heavily in the night. They are doing their best to survive with what they have but it’s not enough and there’s so much uncertainty. My family no longer have the ability to earn a living and the children don’t have access to the education system because the israeli occupation has destroyed the schools and universities. They spend their days searching for food and water and their nights seeking refuge in a densely populated area that’s already been bombed numerous times. Every corner of the destruction around us is a stark reminder of the peace and tranquillity that now seems like distant dreams.
In these extremely difficult times, I’m turning to you in the hope that your kindness will change the future of my family for the better. Please help me to raise funds so I can evacuate my family and bring them here to the UK to live with me. I hope you will take our plight into serious consideration and support us financially, no matter how big or small the amount.Your donation won’t just be money, but a lifeline for my family. The target of £35,000 will help to evacuate 8 members of my family (dad, mum, elder sister with four children and my younger sister)
These funds will help my family cross into Egypt, get them the basic necessities such as clothes, food, medical treatment and shelter. Once this is achieved, we can focus on the next stage of bringing them here to the UK.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read about my family’s suffering and for your unconditional support. We know so many people are desperate right now, and our heart is with all Palestinians. Any support you are able to give will be gratefully appreciated, as will your kind sharing of this fundraiser.
