Hello everyone!
My dear friend, Eva fractured their ankle dancing a few weeks ago. Eva is self-employed as a postpartum doula and gender doula, very physically laborious work, and is only in the first 6 months of starting their business. They’ve been unable to work since the injury and likely won’t be able to resume until September at the earliest; and likely not full-time. If that weren't enough, Eva had already anticipated the need to move in the next 3-4 months and had only just started saving for this. They foresee needing additional funds for a security deposit, moving expenses, increased rental costs, etc.
All that to say, becoming injure at this particular time has been a big financial toll for them.
As a fellow self-employed, dance-enthusiast who has also experienced housing-insecurity in Seattle's developing landscape; I have an abundance of empathy for Eva’s situation. If you do as well, please consider donating to help them stay financially afloat as they heal from this injury without being able to work. Luckily, their health insurance will cover medical expenses but cost-of-living expenses and lost wages still leave a huge impact on their recovery timeline. These are the kinds of life-events that can really put someone out. Let's pool our resources and support as best we can.
Your contribution will help pay for Eva’s rent, food, alternative healthcare needs (for their continued chronic spondyloarthritis/uveitis treatments), pet expenses, car expenses, etc.
If you’re curious for more information about their incredibly important work and what called them to start this business, please consider looking through their webiste.
