Help Eva Dawn Preston Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Heather Preston-Higdon. I am trying to raise money for my mom, Eva "Dawn" Preston. In April of 2024, we got the devastating news that she had stage 4 lung cancer. In May of 2024, we started our first round of chemo, which went very well and shrank the lung cancer tremendously. In the middle of the treatment, we found out that she also had bone cancer that wasn't responding to the chemo treatments. In October, she lost her eyesight in the right eye due to the cancer getting into the optic nerve, but with numerous radiation treatments, she regained her eyesight. In November, we started our second round of chemo/immunotherapy, but in December/January, she was hospitalized multiple times due to the cancer eroding the iliac crest (part of the pelvis) and catching pneumonia. On Tuesday, February 18, we found out that the chemo/immunotherapy was not working and that the bone cancer had progressed, but the cancer isn't in any major organs!
So we set up a new treatment plan, but it's going to be costly. For the next 2 weeks, we will be going back and forth to Brownsboro Cancer Center to do radiation. She will still need to go to Norton's Cancer Center in Louisville to do bone transfusions once every 3 weeks. But the chemo is a targeted chemo and is highly expensive. We don't yet know the exact dollar amount that we will have to pay, but we need to prepare for it, and we already have medical bills piled up that we need to try and get paid also, not to mention the gas that it takes to get to and from these appointments. If you can't donate, we would also like cards, well wishes, and prayers. Thank you and God Bless!! #EvaStrong!!!!!
