Help Eugenia in her final year!

Donation protected
Please share this around the world!  This beneficiary's name is Eugenia Amarachi Ndieze.  She is attending the  University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Nigerian student with an F1 Visa status.  In the fall, she will be a Senior, graduating in December!  Her major is Chemical Engineering.  Her career goal is to become a neurosurgeon. Support of this cause means a lot to me because I am a part of a village that has been raising her since her arrival in the U.S.  I am deeply grateful, as are all of the "villagers" for any support we receive by August 1, 2022.  She also attends our family gatherings so she isn't alone on holidays.  Her impressive transcript will be  attached at the end of the semester.  She is also a candidate for the TOP GRADUATE in the CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT!

Check donations can be sent to Diana Lennon, 315 Brentwood Blvd, Lafayette, LA, 70503 with the memo reading "Eugenia" or directly to her bank for deposit, as the UL cashier's office does not take partial payments for tuition:  Eugenia Ndieze c/o Chase Bank, 2910 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA  70503.  All donations received through this GFM will be used for rent, housing expenses, groceries and tuition.  Tuition is $6,500 (which she pays for without loans) per semester which includes insurance as an international student and books are about $300 per semester.  Housing and meals are about $7,000 per year.  This GFM is currently for tuition, rent and  living expenses since that is the immediate need.  She is an impressive young lady to say the least and is deeply appreciative of any and all assistance.  She has thanked us 1,000s of times!

All of the below professors can testify to her character and need.  Info as of May 10th, 2022:

Works:  15 hrs/week in the Chemical Engineering Dept under Mr. Bill Holmes ($250/2 weeks - $500 every 4 weeks)

Chemical Engineering is not an easy course schedule as you can see.

She has been living at the Genesis apartments near campus  and we'd like to keep her there because she can walk to campus and other necessary stops.

Previously Worked:  15 hrs/week in Financial Aid office under Mrs. Brenda Mouton -  ($253/2 weeks - $506 every 4 weeks)
Now works:  15 hrs/week in Chemical Engineering office under Mr. Bill Holmes and will probably continue to do so until she becomes an Residence Assistant or graduates.

She has also worked an internship (details to follow) and will  attend a career fair in Houston later this year.

Information submitted by Marilyn Shipley Watson with whom she lived prior to May of 2019:
Eugenia Ndieze arrived in Lafayette from Lagos, Nigeria, just before the start of the UL of Lafayette Spring 2019 semester.   She stayed her first night in Lafayette at a Westchester Drive AirBnB.  Seeing the size of her bags, the landlord offered her a lift, and she inquired about the nearest church.  Nigerian churches have a room or two for travelers to use for a few days, and Eugenia assumed the same would be true for US churches.  Upon alighting in front of Asbury UMC, one of our church greeters asked if she could help.  When Eugenia inquired about a room, Mrs. Comeaux told her we didn’t have that service available, but welcomed her and said we’d figure it all out.  That day Mr. Comeaux took Eugenia to get a US phone, and then home to his family.  The next day Mrs. Comeaux and their recent UL of Lafayette graduate daughter, took her to find a bank in which to deposit her cash for the semester’s tuition!
During the Spring of 2019, my husband (RIP) and I offered Eugie a place to stay this semester until she found affordable housing. Mr. Bill usually drove her to and from class as we live at end of St. Mary.  Neighbors occasionally pitch in with rides.  Most school days were long since Eugenia took 16 hours and worked 20 hours/wk in the Student Aid office.
Asbury church members often host Eugenia for weekend and holiday breaks.  Asbury UMC paid for her first semester’s books.  With the Fleur de Lis Scholarship, Eugenia had enough money for her first semester’s tuition.
She worked over the summer at the Chemical Engineering office and saved money for her  tuition.  She really needs sponsors for each the remaining 5 semesters' tuition, books, groceries and housing.
Eugenia’s mother was employed for 29 years by PZ Cussons, a British consumer manufacturing company.  Eugenia’s UL of Lafayette financial viability statement was dated Sept 9, 2017.  On Sept 30, her mother was notified that the company was downsizing, and she was released with a pension.  This pension, however, is “assessed” by the Nigerian government at 75%.  The almost $7000 which Eugenia brought with her was her mother’s life savings.
Eugenia still needs scholarships/funding in order to continue at UL of Lafayette.

Information previously submitted by Eugenia Amarachi Ndieze:
Today is November 23, 2019, and the fall semester is almost over. A lot has changed since my entry into the United States in January of 2019. As Mrs. Watson would affirm, I was unsure of my future, and how I would navigate school and the American life. My Spring semester was a struggle for me, and I’m truly grateful that I was able to come out of it more confident in my future.
Now, I’m almost done with my Fall semester and for the first time, I do not feel like an outsider anymore. My professors in the Chemical Engineering Department have been very helpful in settling me into the department. I work as a research student for these professors, and I’ve gathered a lot of knowledge on the capabilities of what a chemical engineer can do. It’s been a blessing to me.
My mother and brother back home in Nigeria are grateful to the Asbury Church/Family that has helped me since my arrival in Lafayette. I do not know where I would have been now without them, and my family knows it. Since her retrenchment from her job, my mother was able to start up a kiosk where she sells dry goods (foods) just like a small super-mart. My brother, however, is currently serving in the army and would be done by June of 2020. They know how helpful friends here have been to me, and they bless them every day.
This wouldn’t be complete without personally thanking everyone for their support. Mrs. Angie who took me in when I was lost; Mr. Chuck who helped me with my huge luggage despite his bad back; Mr. & Mrs. Watson for treating me like their daughter during my Spring semester stay with them; Mrs. Diana who was a bright spot in my life when I was sad; Ms. Rox who is like a mother to me; Lauren and Julia, friends I truly do not deserve; my professors and everyone who help put a smile on my face when I couldn’t do it alone. I love you all.

We need to collect funds by August 1, 2022.
