Help Eugene Survive Giant Cell Granuloma

Donation protected
Eugene is a Pygmy goat who is almost four years old. Eugene has a fast growing growth in his mouth.

Eugene has had biopsies of the lesion taken and the results are giant cell granuloma.

X-rays have been taken and are being sent off for further opinion on if he is a candidate for a prosthetic bottom jaw. The X-rays did show his lungs were clear and healthy. The growth is very fast growing and aggressive that will need specialist care.

Howells veterinary centre in York, Donaldsons Vets in Huddersfield and Cambridge Veterinary University are all working together to save Eugenes life. Eugenes welfare will always be at the heart of the medical care and there are so many factors to consider.

Anaesthesia is very risky for goats but as Eugene is so young and his heart and lungs are healthy we feel he deserves a shot - whatever the route will be

So far his pre diagnostic tests have reached about £1000 and the surgery in Cambridge is expected to be £3000 to £5000 depending on what he needs doing.

Eugene, along with his two friends, originally became part of our family as an autism support animal for Caitlin (my sister who lives with me). When they were young they were stolen and held for ransom - we had to pay to get them back.

Eugene is worth every penny and this should help move veterinary care along for goats as most people won’t go to this length to try and save a goat as they are usually a commercial animal.

This has never been done before and Cambridge has the best team and equipment to make this a success.
