Support Etni'KS to Empower African Craftsmanship

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Sabrina, I´m French & Moroccan, and my dream is to positively impact the lives of tens of thousands of people, starting with supporting artisans on the African continent through my Home Decor project called Etni´KS. I have big dreams and objectives, to have a social impact on communities and industries accross the African continent, by putting craftsmanship onto a pedestal and creating trendy, modern handmade decorative products. Yet the project of Etni'KS finds itself at a halt, and I truly believe that together, we can help the project flourish and expand. Etni’KS wants to become a reference in the world of African-related craftsmanship for the wellbeing of our sanctuaries, our rejuvenating homes, and expand worldwide in order to have massive impact onto the growth of artisanal industries across the African continent, while pushing the end customer to reconnect more and more with the value of a handmade product, made with natural and/or recycled materials, more in tune with Nature and its rhythms.

For the story bit, I´ve travelled to different parts of the African continent, and was always warmly received everywhere with unbelievable hospitality and joy, even by individuals with barely any means, and that touched my heart. I´ve also witnessed the poverty, mixed with incredible talent and craftsmanship, yet having little to no visibility, nor growth opportunities. This immense gap between our developed industrialized societies where most of the production is machine-made, with synthetic substances, and African developing countries which are still very much embodying their creative spirits, using what Nature offers them, ignited a fire in me to collaborate with several skilled artisans to expose their value to the world and feed an exchange between both parties, so that everyone wins from this circular and collective initiative.

By bridging my 12 years of experience in Interior Design, my love for art, textiles, and for Africa`s special energy and cultural heritage, I would like to take Etni´KS to the next level, by being able to travel to different African countries this year 2024, to source and collaborate directly with artisans in order to develop new collections for vibrant home decor products, and bringing back those jewels to Barcelona, to showcase the talented craftsmanship, full of value and humanity.

This trip has a cost though, which I would be unable to fund by myself, so I decided to open up and share my vision with you, in the hope to connect and share how important this trip would be to Etni'KS, and to all its derivatives, and to gratefully receive your helping hands.

Here is a breakdown of what this trip to 3 neighbouring countries would cost:

Visa to Ghana: 100 €
Barcelona/Accra Flight: 550 €

Visa to Burkina Faso: 85 €

Other public transport during stay: 50 €
Hotel stay (2/3 days): 100 €
Purchase of local products: 200 €

Visa to Mali: 90 €
Then direction to Mali, to visit Bogolan manufacturers:

This would amount to 3635 €.

Lastly, there is another thrilling event happening for Etni'KS this year, and very very soon! On the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March, I decided to participate in an important fair for handmade products in Barcelona, with the aim to gain visibility and to push Etni'KS to another level. This investment comes at a cost too:

Participation: 410 €
Purchase of display racks: 140 €
Purchase of jute cloth to place on racks: 50 €
Manufacturing of new home linen items by a talented Senegalese tailor who is also trying his best at establishing himself in Barcelona: 400 €

This event would cost an amount of 1000 €.

This crowdfunding shall greatly support the project, and I will be forever grateful. Something I will never underestimate is the little help from many hands which can compound and create greater impacts.

With your help, and the help of your circle of friends and loved ones, we can change the narrative and create opportunities for generations to come in another part of the world.

Once again, I weigh my words when I say I will be forever grateful for any bit of help, every penny counts and adds to the collective. Even sharing the word out can work wonders.

As a token of appreciation, I would love to offer you a 10% discount code which can be used on our entire website during the duration of the crowdfunding campaign: THANKYOU10
