EthVida was born from lived experience.
I am Berta Kaguako, a Health and Social Care Consultant with a professional background spanning psychotherapy, mental health, substance misuse, children and families, senior management and clinical governance. But alongside my professional experience, I am also a patient.
My journey into EthVida began when I became predominantly bedbound and found myself having to navigate my own health with limited support from healthcare services. Despite having a professional background in healthcare, I experienced first-hand how difficult, isolating and overwhelming it can be to find the right information, understand your options and feel empowered to take control of your own health.
That experience changed me.
I began exploring holistic approaches to my health and wellbeing and discovered the importance of looking beyond individual symptoms and considering the whole person — including lifestyle, mindset, education, wellbeing and informed self-care.
EthVida was created from that experience.
Our belief is simple: no one should have to navigate their health alone.
EthVida is a not-for-profit organisation committed to making holistic health education, support and resources more accessible. We bring together professional knowledge and lived experience to educate, empower and support people — particularly those who may feel underserved, unheard or uncertain within existing healthcare systems.
We have already achieved so much with limited resources.
We have developed a free educational platform covering areas of holistic health, mental health awareness, plant medicine, substance misuse, safeguarding and goal planning. We provide free mental health coaching for ethnic minorities and women, advocate for patient-centred healthcare, and create accessible educational resources designed to help people make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
We have also developed My First Period, a children's educational resource focused on menstrual health literacy, dignity and empowerment, and are working towards bringing health education resources into schools and communities internationally.
Our work continues to grow through partnerships, advocacy and new projects — and we are incredibly proud that our work is now reaching wider audiences.
how far EthVida has come from its beginnings.
But this is only the beginning.
We have big plans for EthVida. Our abstract has also been accepted for presentation at the Geneva Health Forum 2026, where we will be presenting an EthVida poster in Geneva this November. This is a hugely exciting milestone for us and reflects
We want to develop The Wellness Arena — an online wellness space where people can access free sessions, education and experiences from professionals and practitioners. This could include presentations, chair yoga, guided meditation, art therapy and many other approaches to supporting wellbeing.
We are also working towards HealthStyle, our wellness app, which will bring practical tools such as goal planning and other wellbeing resources together in one accessible space.
As we grow, we want to introduce more services, bring more professionals and practitioners into the EthVida community, build a dedicated team and, where funding allows, help provide holistic health and wellbeing packages to people who may otherwise be unable to afford them.
And there is one principle we want to protect as EthVida grows:
Our services should remain free and accessible to everyone.
We don't believe that financial circumstances should determine whether someone can access knowledge, support or opportunities to improve their wellbeing.
Every donation will help us move closer to this vision — whether that means developing new services, supporting our digital platforms, bringing professionals into our wellness space, developing our team, creating educational resources or helping someone access holistic support that would otherwise be out of reach.
EthVida began because I experienced what it feels like to struggle to navigate your own health.
Today, I want to make sure that other people don't have to navigate theirs alone.
We have started the journey. With your support, we can build what comes next.
Help EthVida grow and make holistic health accessible.
Thank you all in advance,
Berta Kaguako
