Help Ethan to purchase a modified vehicle

Hi my name is Carlicia and I am raising funds to help my client Ethan Fuller to purchase a modified wheelchair accessible vehicle. I am an Occupational Therapist and work with Ethan regularly to help him maintain function and improve his quality of life.

Ethan is a 19 year old man who lives with his family on the Sunshine Coast. Ethan was just 12 years old when he acquired a brain injury that left him unable to walk or function independently. He is now dependent on a wheelchair, uses a hoist to get out of his bed and wheelchair and requires assistance to participate in all activities of daily living. Ethan has reduced hand and arm function, is unable to roll over in bed independently and experiences high levels of pain daily.

Ethan has faced many challenges since the brain injury and one of these challenges has been accessing the community. His family are not in a position to be able to afford a modified wheelchair accessible vehicle. They have to rely on wheelchair taxi's which incur large costs and have taken over 3 hours to pick Ethan up from his location.

A modified wheelchair accessible vehicle will allow Ethan to go out into the community and participate in meaningful activity and engage in social interactions with others. It will allow him to be a more active member of society. Unfortunately Ethan rarely leaves his home and when he does it is only to attend important appointments.

Ethan had to cease hydrotherapy sessions as getting too and from the pool was a round trip of nearly 4 hours due to hours waiting for a wheelchair taxi. Hydrotherapy is an important therapy for Ethan as it helps relax his muscles and joints and allows him to stretch out his arms and legs, which is challenging to do on land.

Modified wheelchair accessible vehicles are expensive and there is limited funding options available to people like Ethan.

Any donation large or small will be greatly appreciated and will assist us in getting closer to the goal of purchasing a vehicle for Ethan.
