Help Ethan Hill Walk Again After Tragic Accident

Hey everyone.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, my brother-in-law, Ethan Hill, was on his way to work and was in a horrible single car crash. He lost control of his vehicle and it wrapped around a tree. He was immediately taken by ambulance to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where they found he had broken his back. He had to have emergency surgery to insert 2 rods and 10 screws.

Going into it we were all scared he was going to be paralyzed from the waist down as he had no feeling from the waist down before surgery. His feeling is now slowly returning but unfortunately, we are not out of the woods yet. He will require a lot of rehab to learn how to walk again. He needs to be at an inpatient rehab facility due to the severity and his age.

He is only 17 years old. His car is totaled. He is now out of work and was only working part-time so no insurance or disability is available for him. He is currently on Medicaid and there are no local inpatient rehabs that accept Medicaid.

His mom, dad, sisters, and brother have been there with him since it happened. Some still able to work but others have had to take off to be there to help care for him. When things like this happen everyone knows bills and expenses don’t stop. Then new expenses on top of it to make his home suitable for him until he heals (porch with a ramp and medical equipment). Not to even mention the medical bills that are already piling up that will take a lifetime to pay off with the amount of time he needs to be at the hospital.

My family is asking for help, if you are able. This is the last thing we want to do because times are tough for everyone right now. Any amount will help so we can get him the best of the best rehabilitation. He has such a long life ahead of him.

To say he is lucky to be alive is an understatement. We are so so thankful he is still here with us.
