Support Ethan's Journey to Recovery: Urgent Surgery for HS & Type 1 Diabetes
We are reaching out to ask for your help in supporting Ethan, a resilient 24-year-old currently facing an uphill battle against two grueling chronic conditions: Stage III Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) and Type 1 Diabetes.
For those who aren’t familiar, HS is a debilitating inflammatory skin disease. At Stage III, it causes deep, painful tunnels and systemic scarring that have now severely restricted Ethan’s mobility. Simple daily tasks—reaching for a glass of water or walking across a room—have become excruciating challenges due to the impact on their arms and lower extremities.
The Critical Next Step: Surgery
Because of the severity of the scarring and the progression of the disease, Ethan’s medical team has determined that Wide Excision Surgery and Flap Procedures are no longer optional—they are a necessity for any hope of a functional future.
This is a complex, invasive process that involves: Wide Excision: Removing large areas of diseased tissue to prevent further infection.
Flap Procedures: Reconstructive surgery to repair the areas where tissue was removed, using healthy skin to restore movement. (This skin will come from other areas of the body)
Navigating this as a Type 1 Diabetic adds layers of complexity to the healing process, requiring specialized wound care and constant monitoring. Currently, Ethan is unable to work due to their physical limitations, and the mounting costs of specialized aftercare, medical supplies, and basic living expenses have become overwhelming.
Funds will cover:
Uncovered Surgical Costs: Specialized procedures that insurance may not fully bridge.
Post-Operative Care: Professional wound care, physical therapy to regain mobility, and medical supplies for a diabetic-safe recovery.
Living Assistance: Helping Ethan maintain a stable environment while he is unable to earn income during months of intensive healing.
Ethan is only 24 and has so much life ahead of him. This surgery represents a chance to move without pain and reclaim his independence.
No amount of donations is too small. Every dollar goes directly toward Ethan’s medical journey and recovery.
Even if you cannot donate, sharing this link with your network, community, or social media pages makes a massive difference.
Leave a comment or a word of support for Ethan to read during the difficult days of recovery.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity. Let’s help Ethan get back on his feet.
