Hi everyone! I (Ethan Lieman) have been selected to play for the U20 National Ultimate Frisbee team. I will represent the United States at the World Junior Ultimate Championship this summer, 2024, in Birmingham, England. This has been my dream since the start of my ultimate frisbee journey and I’m incredibly excited!
My ultimate story began formally the summer before my junior year of high school when I joined Third Rail, a youth club team in NYC. I played many sports growing up but nothing compared to the fun and excitement I experienced playing ultimate. I found my passion.
My high school didn’t have an ultimate team so thanks to Mark Dicus, (the high school coach), and the captains of Tech Support, I was able to join Brooklyn Tech’s team. The two seasons I played with that team were some of the most fun times of my life yet and it was just the beginning. During summers, I started playing club for Brooklyn Heatwave, and DEVYL, a youth club. More great times with great people. Now, in college, I play for UMass Zoodisc.
Words can’t describe how grateful I am for all these experiences. They have contributed to my growth as a player/person and helped me make this National Team. Ultimate has become such an important part of my life. I will continue to relish every moment I get to play.
Unfortunately playing on this team is very expensive. National Team players must cover our own costs; including training, travel, food, and accommodations.
All money raised goes directly towards covering these expenses. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will help send me to Worlds. I am grateful to those who have helped get me to this moment; my family, friends, fellow players, mentors, coaches, New York, ZooDisc, and I can’t wait to represent on the international stage.
Much love!
