Help Ethan and Destinee

Donation protected

After giving Destinee, Ethan, and their families plenty of time to digest what happened in the early hours of December 4th, they are now ready to share the story.

The car accident threw Ethan out the back windshield of the car; while leaving Destinee trapped inside the front passenger seat, the rescue squad had to use the jaws of life to get her out. They were both rushed to Miami Valley Hospital, Destinee was in critical condition and Ethan was stable.

Ethan broke 3 vertebrae in his neck along with fracturing his left shoulder. He underwent surgery to place cages around the broken vertebrae. He is expecting to make a full recovery in the next several months. He is slowly getting around better everyday. While he does have health insurance, he doesn't have any disability insurance, so he doesn't have an income until he is able to return to work in about 3 to 4 months.

Destinee on the on the other hand, also broke 3 vertebrae in her neck, along with a few locations in her spine. This has caused paralysis from the waist down. She underwent the same surgery as Ethan to place cages around the vertebrae in her neck and additional surgery on her back. She spent over a week in the ICU, then she was transferred to Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care. She has been there since mid December. During her stay at Drake, she has slowly started to gain complete sensation in her legs, the muscles are starting to wake up, and complete movement in her hips. This has all been accomplished with 3+ intense therapy sessions per day and will continue for at least 6+ months. Everyone is staying very optimistic that one day she will be able to walk again. Doctors are not sure how long it will take but are amazed how far she has come over the last few weeks, so prayers are needed as much today as day one. This is all very costly and she didn't have any health insurance, let alone any disability insurance.

Now they are trying to prep their home with a wheelchair ramp, hospital bed, and all the equipment needed to continue some of her therapy from home. Along with prepping, there is also transportation needs to and from appointments and extensive therapy sessions at Drake.

They have greatly appreciated all the love and support they have had thus far, and want to let everyone know that it has not gone unnoticed. They are actually surprised that everyone has come forth with such generosity and don't know what they would do without all the love and support.
