Help Esther and Ve obtain safe housing

My name is Esther Maloof and my roommate and I desperately need help.

After finally moving into a new apartment home in September 2021 with my roommate Ve and my 2 cats, we discovered a roach infestation within 24 hours of moving into our unit. We have seen most of them in our kitchen, but they have been spotted in every other room of the apartment. We immediately informed management about the situation and they were seemingly supportive and apologetic. They agreed to have pest control come out and treat our unit on Tuesday. The owner of the pest control company and the apartment manager that treatment was done, but my roommate confirmed that no pest control personel entered the apartment that first day 09/14/2021 . They supposedly returned this past Tuesday 09/21/2021, but with the same result as the first time. At the time of this posting, we have been inside the unit for almost 2 weeks and the infestation is getting worse. Management has given us nothing but false platitudes and broken promises in regards to the situation. We cannot move in our furniture. We cannot cook, wash dishes, or store food items in the cabinets because the roaches have entered and congregated inside of the cabinets and appliances. We have seen dead roaches in our freezer.

Both Ve and I have decided that it is best for us to break our lease and find a home elsewhere, but we need financial assistance. Due to some unexpected medical expenses for my cats and after paying the move in fees for the current apartment I am barely able to afford rent and food for myself because I have to eat out everyday,as well as caring for my animals. Ve has lost her job and has almost exhausted her savings moving into this apartment and feeding herself. My mother has helped as much as she can.

The funds from this campaign will go towards breaking our lease,some moving expenses, and putting a deposit down on a new place to live. I understand that times are hard for everyone right now, but anything you can give will help. Please share with everyone you know. We greatly appreciate anything you can give.
