Help Estelle and Perla Recover Financially After Attack

My name is Estelle and on January 3rd my dog, Perla, and I were both attacked by our aggressive neighbor. This man tried to deliberately murder my dog and then brutally attacked me after. Perla was left with a badly fractured hip and femur needing an FHO surgery; an IRRESERSIBLE bone surgery. Not only is she physically altered for life, but emotionally she has changed a lot. I not only have been left physically harmed and marked, but emotionally and traumatically changed as well. I am getting the help I need, but it has been difficult to handle so much at such a rapid pace.I have lost 10 lbs,a lot sleep, and a lot of money.

I have lost over $7000 and have no current source of income. This is the reason for our fundraiser, we need your help <3

My boss from Zacos Tacos in Culebra took me off the schedule because he refused to prohibit my attacker despite him harassing me with social media posts in place of work showing aggressive and mal behavior...

I was fired with no reason and left with a "good luck in life"...

If he violates any part of this order including things such as: intimidating you, social media posts of the case, or persistent mal behavior... this must be reported to the police, or you can confidently speak with me in private as well.

Both this man’s dog and my dog were off leash and they got into an altercation, and he decided to seriously attack my dog in response. She was chased, pinned to the ground, choked extremely badly, and hung by her neck for at least 2 minutes as this man carried her from my house to his hanging her. As I tried to reach for my dog, he pulled her from me, grabbed her by her neck with the other hand too, and slammed her to the cement ground landing on her left/back 3x. Crushing her to the ground.

 

He then proceeded to shove me and slapped me across my face. I tried to defend myself, but he ended up punching my face multiple times, punching my glasses in my eyes, grabbing my hair and using my necklace to choke me. He kicked my uterus so hard that I started my period earlier than expected immediately after the kick. This man is married and 40 years old, and I am a 23 year old girl living alone. I am in serious pain and completely traumatized, along with my sweet dog. This man is my neighbor, and I don’t even feel safe being at home now.

Life in Culebra can be tricky and there was no vet there, so we had to take a 1.5 hour long ferry to the main island of Puerto Rico to get to a vet. Once examined, they discovered that Perla’s left hip and femur are completely broken.

There are only 2 surgeons on the entire island that can perform the surgeries Perla needs, and they were not working until that Tuesday due to the weekend/holiday (3 Kings Day). Unfortunately, she had to wait til the 8th of January, 5 days. But fortunately, she got ALL the help she needed as soon as possible.

I have immediately begun moving from Culebra to the main island of PR but currently have no house of our own. Were back to couch surfing and its very uncomfortable. I have worked so hard to get to a stable place in my life and unfortunately, it's completely being turned upside down in every way shape and form. We need a security deposit for a new rental home, we need money for food/gas, upcoming health appointments, legal battles and case work, etc.

!UPDATE!:

Perla has received an FHO surgery; an irreversible bone surgery.

"An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip by removing the head and neck of the femur (the long leg bone or thighbone)." says vcahospitals.com.

Perla has lost a lot of mobility in her femur/hip, but she has been healing tremendously. Thankfully she is able to put some weight on her left leg as she walks but she is working great on her threes, eating/drinking well and in a LOT less pain. We must majorly thank Marilucy Quiñones and her excellent team for their work, help and urgency.

They have taken such good care of us, THANK YOU!

That being said, our money has rapidly been draining, and I have lost all my sources of income. We ask you for your help in sharing and donating this fundraiser in order to help our financial situation and legal battles.

Mi nombre es Estelle y el 3 de enero mi perra, Perla, y yo fuimos atacadas por nuestro agresivo vecino. Este hombre intentó asesinar deliberadamente a mi perra y luego me atacó brutalmente. Perla quedó con una fractura grave de cadera y fémur que requería una cirugía de hueso irresistible. No solo está físicamente alterada de por vida, sino que emocionalmente ha cambiado mucho. Yo no solo he quedado físicamente lastimada y marcada, sino que también he cambiado emocional y traumáticamente. Estoy recibiendo la ayuda que necesito, pero ha sido difícil manejar tanto a un ritmo tan rápido. He perdido 10 libras, he dormido mucho y he perdido mucho dinero. He perdido más de $7000 y no tengo ninguna fuente de ingresos actual. Esta es la razón de nuestra recaudación de fondos, necesitamos tu ayuda <3

Tanto el perro de este hombre como el mío estaban sin correa y tuvieron un altercado, y él decidió atacar seriamente a mi perro en respuesta. La persiguieron, la inmovilizaron contra el suelo, la estrangularon extremadamente mal y la colgaron del cuello durante al menos 2 minutos mientras este hombre la llevaba desde mi casa hasta la suya para colgarla. Cuando traté de alcanzar a mi perra, la apartó de mí, la agarró del cuello con la otra mano también y la estrelló contra el suelo de cemento, cayendo sobre su espalda izquierda 3 veces. Aplastándola contra el suelo.

Luego me empujó y me dio una bofetada en la cara. Traté de defenderme, pero terminó golpeándome la cara varias veces, metió mis anteojos en mis ojos, me agarró del cabello y usó mi collar para estrangularme. Me pateó el útero tan fuerte que comencé a tener mi período antes de lo esperado inmediatamente después de la patada. Este hombre está casado y tiene 40 años, y yo soy una chica de 23 años que vive sola. Tengo un dolor intenso y estoy completamente traumatizada, al igual que mi dulce perro. Este hombre es mi vecino y ahora ni siquiera me siento segura estando en casa.

La vida en Culebra puede ser complicada y no había ningún veterinario allí, así que tuvimos que tomar un ferry de 1,5 horas hasta la isla principal de Puerto Rico para llegar a un veterinario. Una vez examinados, descubrieron que la cadera izquierda y el fémur de Perla están completamente rotos.

Solo hay 2 cirujanos en toda la isla que pueden realizar las cirugías que Perla necesita, y no estaban trabajando hasta ese martes debido al fin de semana/feriado (Día de los Reyes Magos). Lamentablemente, tuvo que esperar hasta el 8 de enero, 5 días. Pero afortunadamente, recibió TODA la ayuda que necesitaba lo antes posible.

Inmediatamente comencé a mudarme de Culebra a la isla principal de Puerto Rico, pero actualmente no tenemos una casa propia. Volvimos a dormir en el sofá de un vecino y es muy incómodo. He trabajado muy duro para llegar a un lugar estable en mi vida y, lamentablemente, todo está cambiando por completo en todos los sentidos. Necesitamos un depósito de seguridad para una nueva casa de alquiler, necesitamos dinero para comida/gasolina, próximas citas médicas, batallas legales y trabajo de casos, etc.

¡ACTUALIZACIÓN!:

Perla recibió una cirugía FHO; una cirugía ósea irreversible.

"Una FHO, u ostectomía de la cabeza femoral, es un procedimiento quirúrgico que tiene como objetivo restaurar la movilidad sin dolor a una cadera enferma o dañada mediante la extracción de la cabeza y el cuello del fémur (el hueso largo de la pierna o fémur)", dice VCA Animal Hospitals.

Perla ha perdido mucha movilidad en su fémur/cadera, pero se ha estado recuperando tremendamente. Afortunadamente, puede apoyar algo de peso en su pierna izquierda mientras camina, pero está trabajando muy bien en sus tres, comiendo y bebiendo bien y con MUCHO menos dolor. Debemos agradecer enormemente a Marilucy Quiñones y su excelente equipo por su trabajo, ayuda y urgencia.
