I’m usually speaking to you as the Mayor of Prescott Valley… but right now, I’m speaking as a 30-year resident, a son, a father who cares deeply about taking care of a woman who has called this community home for over 60 years.
This could be anyone’s mom. Anyone’s grandma. Anyone’s great-grandma.
This woman needs help.
Estelle is 89 years old—turning 90 next year. She has lived in the same home for over 60 years. A lifetime of memories. A place filled with love, history, and comfort.
That home is now gone.
In a matter of moments, Estelle lost everything, including her beloved cat. Today, she’s left not knowing where she will sleep next.
Estelle is currently on hospice care due to a fall in February. This should be a time of peace, dignity, and comfort, not uncertainty and loss.
Her only caregiver for the past two decades has stood faithfully by her side… and he, too, is over 90 years old.
While government processes and insurance claims slowly move forward, the reality is this: time is something Estelle does not have. Waiting on red tape might work on paper, but in real life, it leaves an 89-year-old woman in limbo after losing everything she’s ever known.
We can do better than that.
This is where our community steps in.
Prescott Valley, Prescott, and all of Yavapai County have always been about people, about showing up when it matters most. This is one of those moments.
Every dollar donated will go directly toward helping Estelle secure safe, stable housing, basic necessities, and the dignity she deserves during this incredibly difficult time.
Let’s come together and show Estelle that she is not alone. Let’s replace uncertainty with compassion. Let’s give her comfort, not questions.
Please donate if you can. And if you can’t, share this and help us reach others who can.
Because no one, especially someone who has given so much and lived so long in the same house in the same community, should face this kind of loss alone.
