Help Establish the First Latina Sorority in Louisiana

Beginning August 26th, 2024, the expansion of the first-Latina based sorority at Louisiana State University will make history by establishing its first chapter in the state of Louisiana. Our expansion members worked diligently during the 2023-2024 academic year to turn our vision into reality. This chapter will not only transform the cultural landscape at our university but also have a lasting impact on our Greek Life community.

Founded in the 1975, this sorority became the first and largest national sorority representing Latina women in the United States. As an academic-focused sorority, the organization encourages women to excel in higher education while engaging in philanthropy and political advocacy. It is built on three pillars: love, unity, and respect. Although Latina by origin, this sorority embraces all women of all origins to form part of this organization. With its genuine nature and robust support system, bringing this organization to our campus was an easy decision.

We are seeking donations and sponsorships to support our chapter’s growth, including initiation costs, semester dues, recruitment expenses, and sorority merchandise. Starting a new chapter and ensuring its longevity can be costly. Many of us come from humble backgrounds or are out-of-state students. Supporting our initiative will ease the financial burden on our future members and expand our capabilities as a new sorority at LSU.

The Expansion Group at LSU was established to give women a chance to connect, advocate, and feel a sense of belonging on a predominantly white campus. We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to join our sorority, regardless of their financial background. Joining a community of like-minded individuals can change lives. This organization is a lifetime commitment, and we believe everyone should have access to such a highly-regarded organization.
