About Bob:
Bob graduated from Rutgers Camden in 1978, where he built lasting friendships with his Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity brothers, some of whom remained by his side until the very end. As a coach, he established cheerleading programs at Audubon High School, West Deptford High School, and LaSalle University before co-creating South Jersey Cheer Authority (after many years working with the National Cheerleaders Association!). Bob’s love for baseball led him to coaching for several baseball teams, and in later years, to working Phillies games at Citizens Bank Park.
Bob led with integrity, teaching his teams how to balance hard work and strong fundamentals with fun and laughter, creating lasting memories for all team members he coached. Most importantly, Bob knew how to build a team and a strong program with relationships built on mutual respect for our coach and one another.
Bob’s spirit and leadership, for many athletes over many decades, were unmatched. His teams are proud to create the Bob Arra Spirit Award in his honor to ensure his legacy lives on through those who embody his same generous spirit and good heart for years to come.
Purpose:
The Bob Arra Spirit Award honors beloved AHS Cheerleading coach and mentor, Bob Arra. Bob coached at Audubon from the early ‘90s to 2001, guiding a decade of athletes with his can-do attitude, overwhelming generosity, and ability to make a team feel like a family. The Bob Arra Spirit Award will be granted to a graduating student from the Audubon High School Class of 2025 who demonstrates school spirit and leadership. Preference may be given to students enrolled at Rutgers University or LaSalle University who have experience in cheerleading or baseball.
Thank you!!
