Help Establish a Masjid & Daʿwah Center in Central Florida

Fundraising Goal: $100,000

For several years, brothers and sisters in Central Florida have come together for weekly gatherings, lessons, and trips to conferences and seminars across the country — striving to remain connected to the people of knowledge and to benefit from the sittings of learning.

Two years ago, this effort formally began with the establishment of Markaz ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. What started as small home gatherings among a few families has grown, by the permission of Allāh, into a vibrant and united community. Today, we host regular weekly lessons, park gatherings, and seminars attended by brothers, sisters, and families from across the area. Many of these gatherings have become so full that our homes are packed wall to wall with attendees eager to learn, worship, and grow together.

With this growth — and through the encouragement and advice of our mashāyikh and teachers in the US and UK — it has become clear that the time has come to establish a dedicated masjid space in our area.

Our Vision

By the permission of Allāh, we are working to secure a dedicated location in Central Florida that will serve as:
• A Masjid for the five daily prayers, Jumuʿah, community gatherings, and regular classes and reminders
• An Islamic store selling books, thobes, abayas, oils, health products, and more — supporting the masjid and daʿwah efforts

Our goal is not only to establish a masjid, but to build a sustainable model. The Islamic store is intended to help offset operating expenses and support ongoing daʿwah efforts, allowing the masjid to continue serving the community long-term, by the permission of Allāh.

We are actively evaluating multiple potential locations across Central Florida and will move forward with securing the most suitable option once sufficient funding is raised.

Why We’re Raising $100,000 (Phase 1 & Phase 2)

To move forward responsibly and establish a center that can open and operate sustainably, we are raising $100,000, divided into two phases:

Phase 1: Secure & Open the Masjid

This phase focuses on obtaining a location and making it ready to serve the community immediately:
• Facility costs: first year’s rent, utility deposits, and essential operating setup
• Masjid setup: prayer space essentials (carpet/rugs as needed), basic furnishings, shoe racks/shelving, and core supplies
• Operational needs: insurance, security basics, cleaning/setup essentials, and other required startup items
• Build-out & compliance (as needed): minor renovations, signage, permits/inspections, and safety requirements

Phase 2: Sustainability & Daʿwah Expansion

This phase focuses on long-term sustainability and expanding community benefit:
• Islamic store setup: shelving/counter setup and a POS system, plus initial inventory (books, thobes, abayas, oils, health products, and more)
• Daʿwah outreach: gazebo, pamphlets, literature stands, and essential materials for organized street daʿwah
• Conference seed funding: to host a major community conference in Central Florida (venue/logistics as needed)
• Reserve buffer: a modest contingency to handle unforeseen startup needs and ensure continuity

Markaz ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all funds raised will be used only for the purposes described above.

Why Give in Ramadan?

Ramadan is the month of generosity, mercy, and multiplied reward.

Ibn ʿAbbās (رضي الله عنهما) said:

“The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was most generous in Ramadan.”
(Bukhārī)

And the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
(Muslim)

Giving in Ramadan is an opportunity to invest in ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah) — reward that continues through every prayer prayed, every lesson taught, and every act of daʿwah carried out by the will of Allāh.
