Help Essie Jay Battle Severe IMHA --Our Little Girl is Gone
Donation protected

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read this.
We are asking for help for our girl Essie Jay. She has been diagnosed with IMHA - an autoimmune condition where her red blood cells are not regenerating and her condition is very severe. We need to have blood transfusions for her but they are super costly and we just do not have the money . For each one they are approximately $3,000 and she would have to go to Cornell for them. This is her best shot at not dying at 6 years of age!
But now it is getting worse..... today, Aug. 21, she isn't eating and she is vomiting. If she is not better tomorrow I am afraid she will be going to the vet for IV fluids. This is just breaking our hearts... and we need help if you can.
Here is a little about IMHA --
Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) is an autoimmune disease in dogs that occurs when the body's immune system attacks and destroys red blood cells. This can lead to anemia, or low red blood cell counts, which can be life-threatening. IMHA can also cause blood clots to form, especially in the brain and lungs, which can block blood vessels and compromise circulation to organs.
A veterinarian can diagnose IMHA based on clinical signs, blood tests, and examination of a blood smear. IMHA is an emergency situation, and delaying treatment can significantly worsen the prognosis or even be fatal. Treatment can be lifelong, and there is a possibility of recurrence or relapse at any time.
On top of that Lin was hospitalized last year for a spinal fusion and she contracted a Strep infection in her spine which left her with no feeling at all in her left leg. She is learning how to walk again at 74! We are both self employed with no kids and Pat had to take 5 months off of work to help her... Lin is still in a wheel chair and our finances are just shot -- when you don't work you don't get paid.
So this is why we are asking for your assistance..... Thanks for reading this.
We have always been there for you all -- if you can help, even if it is one dollar, Essie appreciates and we do too... thank you in advance.
Lin and Pat and Essie too!
