Help Esmeralda's Journey to Liver Transplant

My name is Perla Flores, and I am organizing a GoFundMe for my sister Esmeralda Flores Zaragosa who is in critical condition in the ICU in Houston Methodist Hospital. Here is her story:

Esmeralda Flores Zaragosa, a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who desperately needs a liver transplant due to decompensated liver disease and facing hepatic encephalopathy due to infection and gastrointestinal bleeding with abdominal hematoma. She has had numerous blood transfusions to keep her alive, and other lifesaving procedures. An episode of hepatic encephalopathy can develop rapidly and without warning, often requiring hospitalization.

Her doctor is recommending a Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is a procedure (referred to as a procedure performed as “a bridge to transplantation) that involves inserting a stent (tube) to connect the portal veins to adjacent blood vessels that have lower pressure. This will relieve the pressure of blood flowing through the diseased liver and help stop bleeding and fluid back up.

The only hospital that will take her insurance and that can do the (TIPS) procedure is a Hospital in Dallas. Her insurance will not cover the medical cost to get her to Dallas. There will be out of pocket copays as well as other expenses that the insurance will not cover.

I know times are hard due to inflation. Anything and everything you can, even prayers will be appreciated and never forgotten.
