Help Esméemilja Undergo Top-Surgery!

Hello, my name is Esméemilja (they/them) and i’m raising funds to cover the costs of top surgery. 

Who am i? 

I am an artist and full-time student living in the Orkney Isles, Scotland. I have multiple disabilities, many of which are untreatable. 

Gender-affirming surgery will provide me with long term mental health benefits, remove my top dysphoria and reduce my associated conditions (Anxiety, OCD, Depression).

Why am I fundraising?

I don’t have savings but i cannot wait ‘around 6 years’ to undergo top-surgery. I have a history of addiction, self harm and suicide attempts due to severe gender dysphoria (and chronic illness). 

My illnesses cannot be treated by surgery, but my gender dysphoria can be.

I have reoccurring skin issues that are extremely triggered by the adhesive glue used in KT tape. My Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome means my skin tears easily so no matter how i remove my tape my skin goes with it. Until i have surgery, i will have to continue dealing with more pain and new wounds, infections and scars.

Where will your money go?

Your donation will go towards the cost of top surgery (including consultations and post-op care). Your money will also help fund me and my carer to travel between Orkney and London, and for wheelchair accessible accommodation.

Being disabled costs an average of £1,122* a month. Despite receiving Adult Disability Payment, the money I receive is less than 2/3 of this figure.
