Help Esméemilja Undergo Top-Surgery!

Hello, my name is Esméemilja (they/them) and i’m raising funds to cover the costs of top surgery. 

Who am i?

I am an artist living and studying in the Orkney Isles, Scotland. I have physical and neurological disabilities, which I work very hard to manage. My illnesses cannot be treated by surgery, but my gender dysphoria can be.

Why am I fundraising?

I have begun the process of undergoing top-surgery at a private clinic in London, due to the length of NHS waiting lists. This was a difficult decision as I am a disabled student, who is unable to work and doesn't have savings. 

I am stable and supported enough to begin my medical transition. I cannot wait for NHS surgery as I have a history of self harm and suicide attempts due to severe gender dysphoria. Gender-affirming surgery will provide me with long term mental health benefits, remove my top dysphoria and reduce my associated conditions (Anxiety, OCD, Depression).

Where will your money go?

Your donation will go towards the cost of top surgery (including consultations and post-op care). Your money will also help fund me and my carer to travel between Orkney and London, and for wheelchair accessible accommodation.

Being disabled costs an average of £1,122* a month. Despite receiving Adult Disability Payment, the money I receive is less than 2/3 of this figure.
