Help Esme Heal: Support for Urgent Vet Care

Hello, my name is Ryan, and this is my sweet baby girl Esme. She hasn’t been doing well, and we have been in and out of the vet and animal hospital. What started was she wasn’t eating and drinking for days, so I called my home vet. They took her in, ran a few tests, and told me there’s nothing wrong. We don’t really know what’s going on. I mentioned to them how she eats things she’s not supposed to, but they didn’t really listen to me when I asked for her throat and mouth to be checked. Days later, she’s still not getting better, so that’s when they transferred me over to the animal hospital.

They took her in and ran tests and said the same thing, that they didn’t see anything in her X-rays or blood work. They ended up keeping her for 2 days just to see if any changes happened. The next day, they called me telling me she’s doing much better and I should be able to take her home. After taking her home, she started bleeding from the mouth. This is when I knew something wasn’t right, so I rushed her back up, and they ran the same tests and still found nothing. That’s when I started mentioning more about something being stuck in her throat. They took her back and told me, “We couldn’t get a look at her mouth and throat because she wouldn’t stop moving.” I watched the vet open her mouth and look in there, and she told me she’s not seeing anything concerning, so she gets sent home with meds.

That week went better; she started eating better, drinking more, and she seemed to have some energy back. After the week had passed and she had finished her meds, things started taking a turn for the worse. I was being woken up at 12:00 to a soaked shirt, pillow, bed, and floor of blood. I rushed her up there once more, and this is when I’m still mentioning a throat or mouth issue. They took her in the back, did more tests, and came back saying they found a hole in her tongue. That was a relief. We now know that this is what’s going on with the bleeding, so they rushed her back for surgery. As surgery was being done, the doctor came back and told us they found string-like stuff from a mattress cover that she tore up was stuck in her tongue going into her throat, and it was a lot!

After surgery was done and she rested for a little while, they said she was ready to go home. Finally got her home, and not even 10 minutes later, she’s bleeding all over again due to the stitches popping apart. So now she is currently staying with them to try to make the bleeding stop. I’m not someone who normally asks for anything, but I just don’t know what else to do. I have maxed out CareCredit with almost 6k because all these tests could have been avoided and caught early if they would have just listened to me and checked her mouth and throat. I don’t know if she’s going to have to go back after this. But anything helps, and I bless everyone that can help.
