Esma Irem PATAN has always excelled academically. From her early years in Ankara to graduating high school in Samsun with top honors, she has consistently demonstrated her dedication and passion for learning. Her hard work paid off when she ranked in the top 0.2% out of over 2 million students in Turkey’s university placement exam, earning her a spot at the prestigious Ankara University Faculty of Law.
Now a lawyer with the Samsun Bar Association, Esma has developed a strong interest in Competition Law. She discovered that this field originated in the United States and has since set her sights on studying there to gain advanced expertise. After extensive research, she found the perfect program at Illinois Tech Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Esma successfully completed the first year of this program in Turkey with an impressive GPA of 3.46/4. She is now eager to finish her LL.M in International Intellectual Property Law at Chicago-Kent, a degree that aligns perfectly with her career goals. Esma dreams of working as a lawyer and consultant for major companies like Google and UBER in the U.S.
Despite receiving a 70% scholarship, Esma still needs $17,250 to cover her remaining tuition and living expenses. Her family, with her mother being a housewife and her father retired, struggles to support her financially. Esma also has a younger sister who is still in school.
