Help Eskay Food Rebuild After Devastating Fire in Moston

On 10 July 2025, a devastating fire tore through our business — Eskay Food Limited, a family-run Afro-Caribbean grocery store in Moston — destroying everything we’ve worked so hard to build over the past 15 years.

We were one of the first African stores in Moston, opening our doors at a time when it was difficult to find African and Caribbean groceries locally. We’ve proudly served generations of families, bringing a little bit of home to people from across Manchester and beyond.

But more than just a shop, Eskay Food has become part of the fabric of the community. We’ve supported local events, helped new arrivals settle into the area, and become a familiar, friendly face to so many.

In recent months, we were in the process of expanding our business online, developing a website to reach more people, especially second-generation customers and younger members of the community looking for convenient access to cultural foods. We were excited about the future — but the fire has taken all of that away in an instant.

Everything inside the premises is gone — our entire stock, fridges, freezers, shelving, and the building itself are beyond repair. It's been an overwhelming loss for our family — emotionally, financially, and mentally.

We’re devastated, but we are not ready to give up.

We’ve created this fundraiser to ask for your help in rebuilding Eskay Food. The road ahead is long, but with the support of our community, friends, and anyone who believes in small independent businesses, we believe we can come back stronger.

Our story has been featured in the Manchester Evening News, and we’ve already received so many kind messages of encouragement — for which we are deeply grateful.
