Help Eshe Rebuild After Car Theft

Dear friends & family,
You may already know about Eshe’s love for the South and that her twins have just become college students at Tuskegee University and Southern Union, and that she and her mom have a new residence in East Alabama that they were set to depart for on October 3rd. What you might not know is that the morning of October 1st, she went out to her car to pack the last of her belongings only to find that her SUV was missing.
After 24 hours of phone calls, texts, and a police report, she learned it was in fact STOLEN. This thwarts her ability to get her, her mother, and their belongings home. Further, she doesn’t live in an area like the DMV, where Ubers and the metro system are daily options. She moved to rural Opelika, 6 miles from town. This means she will not have the ability to travel throughout the South as her work requires, nor the 3 and a half hours to the site of the conference she is hosting at the end of the month in West Central, AL, or even the hour and a half to Atlanta for a sustainability conference next week.
In speaking with her, she’d say that from early May when the twins had prom and graduation, to summer where she hosted camps and brigades, to the twins starting college, to now, where she is moving herself and her 71-year-old mother down South, funds have been extremely tight. Something had to give. She needed to, in the words of her grandmother, “rob Peter to pay Paul” and had to forego insurance for a short 6-week time, while putting plans in motion to move South to make it simpler to afford life. Her planner for Friday, October 4 states: “reinstate GEICO.”
We know that Eshe has poured herself into the community, the youth, and is always there with a helping hand to those in need. Her mother and her sons are still dependent on her and we want to show her that her community can support her in her time of need. Let's pool our collective funds together to help her lease a car and eventually buy a used car to get back on her feet!
