Help Errant Phoenix Rise Again After COVID-19!

If there’s one thing Errant Phoenix Productions is known for, it’s persevering through the worst of times. (Well, that and bringing quality, innovative theater to Sacramento!) It’s right there in our name – like the phoenix, we cannot be destroyed.

In our first major hurdle, we almost literally rose from the ashes. Errant Phoenix began as The Alternative Arts Collective, which quickly established itself as an arts hub bringing together local actors in a collaborative environment. TAAC performed at the Blue Box Theater off of Del Paso Blvd for several years until 2014, when its home was destroyed in a fire.

Undaunted, we rebuilt our beloved company from the ashes, reborn as Errant Phoenix Productions. Last year (May 2019), we settled down in our new home: the Thistle Dew Dessert Theatre!

With the establishment of our permanent location has come a rebirth of our resolve in our mission. We have continued to bring quality shows to the Sacramento community, but in our new home we have managed to add:
●  An art gallery in our lobby, featuring local Sacramento artists who display their art during our shows and during Second Saturday Art Walks
●  Improv with our resident troupe, Unrehearsed Improvised Comedy!

Why should you support Errant Phoenix with your donation?

As a non-profit performing arts group, Errant Phoenix has had its share of challenges; like many in the non-profit sector who provide services on a shoestring or nearly non-existent budget and keep the doors open through donations, it is often a struggle to meet the daily challenges of operating costs while fulfilling our promise to the community and local audiences to provide enriching, exciting, and thought-provoking entertainment. In spite of those challenges, and the even greater challenge resulting from COVID-19 quarantine, the indomitable spirit and commitment of those of us involved has persevered to overcome obstacles, carry on, and continue to create art through live theatre to the Sacramento community. Errant Phoenix is wholly staffed by hard-working volunteers who are passionate about theatre and our mission. In short, we are dream makers who aspire to share our vision, making bold choices in material to provide outstanding art and quality theatre that inspires, elevates, and challenges while making our audiences howl with laughter or watch in awestruck silence. In dark times like these, we think everyone could do with a little more creativity and imagination.

We were about to open a production when the state of California shut down, so most of our money is sitting in an empty theatre ready for an audience. While we expect to bring that show to life, there are other expenses, like insurance, that still need to be paid. In order for us to ensure that we’ll be able to return when the world is ready to open again, we need your help.

Our Mission

Errant Phoenix Productions is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that supports, promotes and empowers local visual and performing artists as they contribute to the cultural enrichment of the Sacramento region. As an arts hub, Errant Phoenix encourages individual and collaborative artistic expression through unlimited media, giving new and veteran artists the opportunity to explore and refine their craft in a non-competitive environment.
