On June 1st, it was Ernie Rosas’ anniversary of one year of continuous service with Q&D. He set out for work in the early morning, heading for Carson Tahoe Hospital where he is a laborer with the Heavy/Civil Concrete crew working on the expansion there. Ernie, a beloved, enthusiastic and punctual member of our crew, never arrived. Everyone knew something wasn’t right when Ernie wasn’t there at start time. We found out that while traveling through Washoe Valley on 395-South Ernie was rear-ended by a drunk driver at a very high rate of speed. First responders rushed him to the emergency room and he has been in surgery most of Monday (6/1) with extensive injuries with many more surgeries to come. We are waiting to hear an update but Ernie has extensive spinal injuries and his future is uncertain. Ernie is a father and recently welcomed a newborn. Friends and family members are taking up a collection to help support Ernie’s care and recovery including travel expenses for his relatives coming in to be by his side. His close family has flown in to be with him. Our hearts and our prayers go out to his entire family.
