Hi, my name is Lauren and I am fundraising for my 1 year old cat, Ernie. Yesterday, Ernie had a freak accident at home and was rushed to an emergency vet. After scans and X-rays, we found out she had broken both of her back legs, she was in a lot of pain and attempting to drag herself with both legs completely snapped in half and limp. The vets explained that this is a rare and serious injury, and she needs urgent orthopaedic surgery to have any chance of keeping her legs or surviving at all.
This surgery includes both legs having plates and screws fixed to the bones internally. The total cost is several thousand pounds. This includes her emergency care, diagnostics, surgery, medication, and all the follow-up treatment she’ll need during recovery.
I wouldn’t normally ask for help, but I also have another cat who was born with an extremely severe and rare Ventricular Septal Defect, which is a life threatening heart deformity (just my luck!). He isn’t eligible for insurance, so I’ve been covering his ongoing care which is also thousands of pounds every 6 months, including regular specialist cardiology treatment and saving for his heart surgery in the future. I have managed this on my own, but with Ernie’s accident coming from nowhere, I simply can’t afford the cost of both.
I’ve done my best to manage everything, but this sudden emergency with Ernie was something I couldn’t financially prepare for and did not expect, as she is usually happy, healthy and has never had an incident like this. That’s why I’m asking for help — specifically to support Ernie’s treatment and recovery.
If you’re able to donate or share this, it would mean a lot as any little amount contributes. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support that you can offer Ernie, we incredibly grateful.
Lauren x
