Hi, my name is Juan. I'm writing on behalf of my mother, Ernestina, and sharing the difficult news about her health. We are hoping to raise money to help with the financial strain and receive prayers for my mother and our family during this time.
Back in late 2024, my mom went to the hospital for a gallbladder procedure due to complications. During the procedure of putting a stent in the biliary duct, the surgeon noticed a mass. After the surgery, she was notified that she had Stage 3 ampullary carcinoma cancer of the Vater along with sepsis. After a month of antibiotics to handle the sepsis, she had to visit a hepatologist. The hepatologist informed her that she needed to have Whipple surgery, which removed part of her pancreas, small intestine, and stomach. The remaining parts of the digestive system were then reconnected to form a new pathway for food and bile to flow.
After two months of recovery from the Whipple procedure, she visited an oncologist. A week later, she began her chemo treatment and ended up having a reaction to the chemo. Due to the reaction, they had to stop chemo for a month. After a month, she was then diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable advanced pancreaticobiliary cancer (which meant it had spread to the liver). She was given a year of life expectancy. She is continuing her chemo treatment to surpass the one-year life expectancy that she was given and to contain the mass from spreading.
She is unable to work due to the cancer, and during this time, there has been a financial struggle. My mom has always been there for my sister and I as well as so many others without question or hesitation. As medical expenses can accumulate quickly, any assistance or support during this difficult time would be deeply appreciated. No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a significant difference as she continues to fight this battle with cancer.
