Hi everyone, In April, I was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer. This means the cancer is hormone receptor-positive and HER2-positive (an aggressive type, where the HER2 part can cause it to grow and spread more quickly). Right now, I have a tumor in my breast, and it has spread to a lymph node, possibly further. Because of that, my treatment plan is a lot. I’m looking at at least 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by a mastectomy, then radiation, and long-term hormone therapy and ongoing follow-ups.

The good news is…the plan I have and the care team I’ve been blessed with, feels so solid. I know I can tackle this. I’m just getting started, but between medical costs, travel, day-to-day support for chemo and recovery, and who knows what else…it’s already clear this is going to be more than I can handle on my own. My family is also in Chicago while I’m in Arizona, so we’ll be navigating how to be together through this as best we can.

I really hate being the person to ask for help, but I can’t deny in this case I’m going to need it.
