My best friend is struggling...and she needs our help!
Erin is an only child, who just lost her dad a month ago and is the full time caregiver of her mom who is in mid-stages of Alzheimer's Disease. Nin (as those closest to her call her) is also a Special Ed Teacher, who will be returning to work full time at the end of March, which will require full time care of her mom. For those who haven't had to deal with the Elder Care system - it is AWFUL!
Due to Covid-19, all Adult Daycares are closed, so she needs to pay out-of-pocket for full time care or take a leave of absence from work - with no pay!
Not knowing how to help, or what to say, I figured I would turn to our friends, family & strangers to help her through this trying time. "Alzheimer's is a family disease. It requires countless hours of care, which are typically provided by family caregivers. Without professional help, it can be impossible to juggle providing that care with jobs, raising kids or just time for yourself."
Having just lost my own mom to Alzheimer's a year ago, this situation hits close to home for me and is a way for me to try to help give back. Families have a hard time getting support and care for their loved ones and now with the effects of a pandemic, it's even harder. Many people have siblings or family members who can help with care, but Erin has no one. Her only family caregiver was in the ICU with Covid a month ago.
I know everyone is struggling during these trying times, but every little bit will help support Nin during her time of need.
Thank you in advance for your help and support!
