Erin Lay is not only our coworker, but also a dear friend who has shown incredible strength and kindness to everyone around her. We work with Erin on the Behavioral Health Unit at MyMichigan in Midland, where she is a patient care provider working the 7p to 7a shift with us. Erin is a hard worker with a huge heart, caring for her patients with the utmost respect, kindness, and dignity. She’s compassionate and gives 100% of herself to her co-workers and patients.
Since her husband’s work accident in September 2024, Erin has been the sole provider for her family, caring for her two sons and baby girl. Even when she isn’t feeling her best, she works tirelessly to make sure her family is cared for, never asking for help and always putting others first.
Tragically, on Sunday, January 11th, Erin and her family experienced a devastating house fire that destroyed 80% of their home and left them displaced. The family is currently staying in a hotel while they figure out housing. In the blink of an eye, they lost not only their home, but also many of the belongings and comforts that made it a safe place for her children. Despite these hardships, Erin continues to be a light for so many people, always offering support and kindness to those around her.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping Erin and her family find temporary housing, replace essential belongings for her children, and cover the expenses of finding a new home. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in helping them rebuild and move forward. I would first and foremost like to thank everyone for reading about Erin’s story. I know times are tough for many, so if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word. Your support, in any form, means the world to Erin and her family.
